Hometown Feel: Our neighborhoods shine on Night to Unite
There are so many factors that go into maintaining our Hometown Feel, but chief among them is our neighborhoods. Neighbors knowing neighbors, and neighbors helping neighbors, is what Rosemount is about. Each year, many of our neighborhoods participate in Night to Unite, an opportunity to get to know our neighbors and celebrate our hometown. Hosts who register with the City also receive visits from City Council & Staff, and from our Police, Fire, and Public Works teams; we also collect donations for the local food shelf run by 360 Communities.
Last night (August 4, 2026), I had a great time running into old friends, making new ones, and celebrating the hometown feel that makes Rosemount special. I heard from you about what you love about Rosemount, and what you want to see improved. I answered your questions about projects ranging from the UMore plats to the amenities we want to see in town.

145th Street: Where local business owner Don was grilling hot dogs and more, and I spoke with a member of the family who owns another long-standing local business. I particularly enjoyed speaking with neighbor John, who brought along with him several historic photos of Rosemount from throughout the years.
The Rosemount - Senior Living at the Steeple Center: What an amazing community. I got to take a photo of Firefighter Nowlin with his mother, and another photo with Ken Talbert, the 2026 Grand Marshal of the Rosemount Leprechaun Days parade. This was a super-friendly group of neighbors, and I have a return date to join them at a weekly happy hour.
144th Street: Where I ran into my friends Dustin and Neil, and their close-knit group of neighbors. I also met a really good girl who let me pet & snuggle for a bit.
148th Street: A community full of caring families and neighbors. I spoke at length with a homeowner whose home was badly damaged in a fire, and heard more about how her neighbors discovered the fire and helped save her son and 3 dogs. (We recognized these hometown heroes at our Regular Meeting back on May 5, 2026.)
Cormorant Way: This neighborhood stands out for our neighbor, Lois, who initially took on creating a neighbors’ “cheat sheet” with the names, kids’ names, and contact info for each house on a map. This looked like a great resource for any neighborhood to emulate. I also ran into Shelly, my old colleague from the Rosemount Area Athletic Association Board of Directors, and Bill, a patron of my husband’s business (Farmington Lanes).
Crescent Circle: Another close-knit group of families who welcomed us with open arms. The kiddos had a great time operating the fire hose.
Overall, it was another reminder of what I love about Rosemount, and why I am committed to maintaining our Hometown Feel. Thank you Rosemount - I love this town!
