Hometown Growth: Creating economic resilience and spurring investment through the Minnesota Aerospace Complex
Rosemount will soon be home to the most advanced aerospace testing facility in the country. The Minnesota Aerospace Complex (MAC), approved for just south of the Rosemount Data Center, represents a $1.1 billion investment in Rosemount by stakeholders ranging from aerospace industry, to the University of Minnesota, to our federal government. The MAC has the potential to spur additional relevant business investment in Rosemount, to grow local jobs and the economy, and to boost business travel to our area (potentially helping build demand for a future hotel amenity).

Good morning everyone!
My name is Tami Klimpel, and I am proud to be here today representing Rosemount City Council, the Rosemount Port Authority, city staff, and most importantly, my fellow residents.
I’ve lived in Rosemount for over 18 years, and it’s no secret that we’ve all witnessed a lot of growth in those 18 years. In that spirit of pride and progress, City staff and leaders have long envisioned diversifying our local economy and industry, making Rosemount a destination for business and innovation..
This project we are celebrating today delivers on that vision, as Rosemount will soon host the most advanced aerospace research and testing facility in the United States: the Minnesota Aerospace Complex.
The MAC will advance our goal to diversify the local economy, adding a high-tech aerospace sector, and will position Rosemount as a regional leader in innovation while complementing existing strengths in manufacturing and education.
And on UMore Park land, will create opportunities for public-private partnership and collaboration with the University of Minnesota, while converting long-vacant UMore land to a productive, national significant asset.
It will also serve to generate new tax revenue, supporting essential services and infrastructure for the residents of Rosemount, while also helping us to address a long-standing environmental challenge through site remediation and redevelopment…
The MAC will also be a catalyst for career pathways, bringing well-paying jobs and opportunities to local and regional residents, strengthening household incomes and community stability in the greater Rosemount area…
Serving to retain talent in Minnesota, fostering a pipeline of skilled professionals and ensuring local students and researchers access to state-of-the-art engineering facilities.
This is a $1 billion investment not just in Rosemount, but in America’s future, aligning with Rosemount’s long-term vision for sustainable growth, innovation, and economic vitality.
